The Hatchet Boosters ask all Hatchet fans to wear black Friday for the sectional game.
Messmer to hold town hall
State Representatives Mark Messmer (R-Jasper) and Ron Bacon (R-Chandler) will host a Third House session at 9 a.m. Saturday at Pike Central High School auditorium, 1810 E. SR 56, Petersburg.
Reps. Messmer and Bacon will discuss how the Legislature is progressing now that session is at the halfway point with bills changing houses of origin and will take questions from the audience.
Homemakers scholarships out
Daviess County Extension Homemakers are giving away scholarships for high school seniors. Applications are due to the Extension Office, 214 N.E. Third St., Washington, IN by Friday. The application is available at your high school or from Daviess County Extension website www.extension.purdue.edu/daviess under the “newsletter” tab. The following are the guidelines for applying:
* Scholarships of $100 each will be given using available funds.
* A daughter or granddaughter, son or grandson, or stepdaughter/stepson of any Daviess County Extension Homemaker who lives in Daviess County or in the home of a member who lives in another county is eligible.
* To be given to a high school senior.
* A grade point average of at least 85 percent or 3.0 on 4.0 system Ñ “B” average.
* A daughter or son of the Daviess County Extension Homemaker will be given first priority with a random drawing of remaining qualified grandchildren to select additional finalists.
* Applications must be in to the Extension Office by March 1.
* The sponsoring member will not be on the selection committee.
* The winners will be announced at Achievement Night.
* A certificate or letter of award will be given away at graduation activities.
* The check will be made payable to the student after registration and should be picked up at the Extension Office no later than September 1.
* If the scholarship money is not used during the school year, it will be added to next year’s fund.
