WASHINGTON — Daniel C. Mattingly, 70, of Washington, passed away at 2:06 p.m. Tuesday at Daviess Community Hospital. Born Aug. 8, 1942, in Washington, he was the son of Walter and Inez (Borders) Mattingly. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and John D. Lashley of Washington, and Christy and JD Flynn of Loogootee; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lori Mattingly of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Megan Lashley, Damon Lashley, Kinsey Mattingly, Dylan Mattingly and Carsyn Mattingly; a sister, Sue (Wayne) Lee of Washington; brothers, Ira “Archie” (Janet) Mattingly, Louis “Eddie” Mattingly, Jim “Vernon” (Linda) Mattingly, all of Washington. His wife, Rita (Kelly) Mattingly, whom he married on June 10, 1966, died May 20, 2010. He is also preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel Joseph Mattingly on Nov. 21, 1969; his parents, Walter Mattingly and Inez Wichman; and four brothers, Joey Mattingly, William “Bud” Mattingly, Robert “Porky” Mattingly and Tom Mattingly. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Pastor Rex Thomas officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to Arthritis Foundation, 8646 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268-3011.
