JASPER — Washington won the boys bowling championship and had top qualifiers from both boys and girls sides in Saturday’s sectional at Eastown Recreation Center.
Washington’s Chase Ragens won the top individual qualifier on the boys side with a 758, while Hatchet Kelsey Burton took honors for the girls with 609.
Washington’s boys team remained undefeated with a 2,970 total in team competition to win the seven-team competition. The Hatchets won the title following a two-game Baker roll-off between Washington and Jasper.
Other team scores were: Jasper, 2,628; Forest Park, 2,552; Vincennes Rivet, 2.398; Southridge, 2.296; Vincennes Lincoln, 2.187; and Northeast Dubois, 2.156.
Southridge had the top team score on the girls side with 2,394. However, second-place Jasper (2,250) took team honors in the roll-off. Other team scores included: Forest Park, 2,221; Northeast Dubois, 1.884; and Washington, 1.825.
Washington had three of the top eight scores for individuals on the boys side. Wes Richardson was second for Washington at 665, and Jonathan Harner finished seventh with a 584 series.
Other individuals in the top eight included: Adam Woodall, Forest Park, 639; Gregory Blessinger, Vincennes Rivet, 633; Anthony Schmitt, Northeast Dubois, 626; Michael Nonte, Forest Park, 613; and Dale Earley, Vincennes Lincoln, 582. Alternates to the regional are: Ben Sanders, Jasper, 579; and Cole Meyer, Southridge, 577.
They will be joined by individuals from the girls’ side and teams from both divisions at the regional set for Saturday at Franklin Lanes in Evansville. Singles begins at 10 a.m. (EST), with team competition set to begin at 1 p.m.
Burton was the only individual qualifier from Washington in the girls competition. Following Burton were: Mallory Peter, Southridge, 586; Chelsey Campbell, Southridge, 547; Sarah Reckelhoff, Jasper, 542; Jade Schitter, Jasper, 529; and Mallory Dale, Forest Park, 526.
Alternates are: Amy Bockelman, Forest Park, 525; and Bethany Kempf, Northeast Dubois, 506.
