Washington SB to meet today

WASHINGTON — The Washington Community Schools board will meet at 7 p.m. today. Items included on the agenda: 2012-13 calendar change; CEO program update; keyless entry system for elementary buildings; school messenger notification system.

Red Cross blood drive today

The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in February.

They include:

Today, EG&G Technical Services, 13923 E. Capt. WJ Nelson Dr., Odon, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days.

The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.

Legislator program this Saturday

The public is invited to attend “Meet Your Legislators” on Saturday at 9 a.m., at Vincennes University’s Davis Hall, Studio B.

The program will be broadcast live on WVUT-TV, WVUB, 91.1 FM, and online at wvut.org. It will also be re-broadcast the same day at 8 p.m. on WVUT-TV.

Persons who wish to submit questions to the legislators may email them anytime this week to: wvut@vinu.edu or phone in your questions the day of show to 888-5334.

Legislators who have been invited to attend include State Representatives Mark Messmer, Dist. 63; Kreg Battles, Dist. 45; Tom Washburn, Dist. 64; and State Senators John Waterman, Dist. 39; and Lindel Hume, Dist. 48.

Hope House open Saturday

Hope House, 704 W. Van Trees St., Washington, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday to give free food and clothing to anyone in need. Hope House is a ministry of Church on the Way.
