WHS to crown homecoming royalty Friday

Area Briefs for Thursday

WASHINGTON —  Washington High School will crown its 2012 Fall Homecoming Queen at 7:40 p.m. Friday, at Hatchet Hollow before the Homecoming game against North Daviess. The court includes, front row (from left): junior class representative Olivia Sherman, sophomore class representative Madison Decker and freshman class representative Brenda Santos. Senior class queen candidates are, back row (from left): Paige Hawthorne, Hannah Mason, Rachel Chattin, Miranda Ryan and Alex Pancake.

Blood drives coming soon

The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in September.

They include:

Today, Free Methodist Church, 1155 Troy Road, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sept. 10, Anytime Fitness, 101 Cherry Tree Plaza, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Sept. 13, Berea Mennonite Church, 216 S. Main St., Cannelburg, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days.

The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.

Hand reunion

on Sunday


The descendants of William and Lucinda (Martin) Hand will hold their annual reunion at noon Sunday at the 4-H Building at Eastside Park. A carry-in dinner is planned. For more information call Kevin Myers at 354-6116.
