Soil expert speaking

The Daviess County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), alongside SWCDs from surrounding counties, is hosting renowned soil health and cover crop expert Mike Plumer from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Washington Community Building at Eastside Park. He will lead a discussion on cover crop economics, productivity and management. Private applicator, commercial applicator and certified crop adviser credits will be offered.

City Council to meet

Washington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers,

200 Harned Ave. Items included on the agenda: reading of resolution approving a declaratory resolution and economic development plan; final reading or ordinances amending fair housing ordinance and council districts; Mayor Wellman presents the 2012 State of the City.

The Board of Public Works and Safety will meet following the Council meeting. Items included on the agenda: discussion/approval of claims and permits; request from Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church to reserve two parking spaces in front of the church and the high school; request to place a 4-way stop sign at Hefron Street intersections near the courthouse and catholic schools; request to reserve two handicap parking space in front of First Baptist Church; discussion of farm lease bid award; bid for 2013 asphalt paving; street sweeping agreement with INDOT.

Habitat dedication

Habitat for Humanity's home dedication will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 2 at the new home located at 103 N.E. 20th St., Washington.

Everyone is invited but please RSVP to Emily Terry at 259-2949. The dedication should last about 30 minutes.

Commissioners meet Monday

Daviess County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the Commissioners' Room at the courthouse.

Items included on the agenda: voting locations for Barr-Reeve referendum election; multifamily housing revenue bonds; ambulance advisory board appointment.
