CITY REPORT

Thursday

12:56 p.m. — Edith Haag, 401 W. Flora St., advised she was laying down in her bedroom when she saw an unknown male walk down her hallway. He went out the back door and was last seen heading west. A bottle of 90 Xanax was taken. Officers were unable to locate a subject matching the man’s description.

Wednesday

5:48 p.m. — Terry Leonard, 810 S.E. Second St., advised a male subject cutting grass for Southside Lawn Service on a vacant property owned by Bank of America damaged his vehicle. There was rock chip damage to the drivers side of his 2009 Dodge pickup.

3:24 p.m. — Debra Nichols, 1812 Vincennes Ave., reported vandalism and a bike stolen from her residence Monday evening.

COUNTY REPORT

Wednesday

11:25 p.m. — A caller requested an officer because someone was shooting up his property.

7:44 p.m. — A female caller reported a boy jumped on the hood of her car at North Daviess High School.

1:03 p.m. — Jamie Denise Rollins, Newberry, advised her vehicle was vandalized in Elnora overnight.

5:56 a.m. — A cabin owned by Gene Horning at 14228N 1225E, near Odon, was reported on fire. The Odon Volunteer Fire Department responded and was on the scene until 8:14 a.m. A detective was on the scene until 9:40 a.m. and reported finding nothing suspicious. Southwest Medical stood by in case of injuries.

COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Wednesday

4:47 a.m. — Products from Perdue Turkey Processing Plant on Clark Road had just been loaded into a refrigerated 2010 International semi with a van-type trailer and the driver, James P. Meintzer, 57, of Summertown, Tenn., was traveling south on Clark Road with the load. Near W. Nat’l Hwy., he said, he saw a northbound vehicle cross the center line.

To avoid a collision, Meintzer tried to pull to the right. He drove onto the soft shoulder and slid down a steep embankment. The truck, registered to Werner Enterprises Inc., Omaha, Neb., rolled onto its passenger side at the ditch. The driver was not injured. Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.

Tuesday

5:16 p.m. — Lewis J. Stoll, 46, Odon, was northbound on SR 57 near Hanley Street in Plainville, driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier registered to Darvin R. Stoll when he ran off the west side of the road into a field, striking a ditch. The driver was transferred to Daviess Community Hospital by Southwest Medical. damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

ARRESTS

Leonard L. Payne, 48. Washington, was arrested Wednesday by sheriff’s deputies on a warrant for theft and receiving stolen property. He was held at Daviess County Security Center on $2,500 bond.

Matthew Lee Groves, 24, Washington, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear and a writ of attachment. He was held on $100,250 bond.
