A celebration of Sam

ELNORA — Members of the faculty, staff and student body of North Daviess High School held a “Celebration of Sam”  on the softball field Thursday afternoon to celebrate the life of Samantha Porter, a student who was killed in a car accident a week ago. Messages were written on the balloons, followed by music and then the release of the balloons.

Weenie roast in Sandborn

The Sandborn Park Board will sponsor a weenie roast at the town park at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. Bring your own chair. Donations gladly accepted.

Plainville trash pick up Tuesday

Due to the landfill being closed Monday, the Town of Plainville will pick up trash on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Euchre tourney    at K of C

There will be a euchre tournament fundraiser for Professional Child Care Association of Southwestern Indiana Saturday at Knights of Columbus, 319 E. Main St. Registration is at 6:30 p.m., tournament begins at 7 p.m. To pre-register call Cary Madison at 254-4550 or 941-592-7544. Entry fee is $10 per person. Cash prizes for most points and most loners.

B-R school   board to meet

Barr-Reeve Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss a job performance evaluation. The regular session will be at 8 p.m. Items on the agenda include: boys basketball coaches recommendation; fall break.

Boil order issued by DCRW

Daviess County Rural Water System has issued a precautionary water boil advisory for those customers on U.S. 50 east of CR 900E.

Commissioners to meet

The Daviess County Commissioners will meet in executive session at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Commissioners’ Room in the courthouse to discuss litigation.

Free clothes at Church of Christ

There will be a clothing giveaway from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Washington Church of Christ located across from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

There will be lots of clean gently used clothing from infant sizes through men and women’s 3X. Also shoes, hats and purses.

Everyone in the area is welcome to come and select clothing for their needs.

WC book fair      on Saturday

Washington Catholic Schools will host a Scholastic Book Fair from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday across the street from W.C. Elementary, 313 N.E. Second St., in the Catholic Education Endowment office. Funds raised will help purchase books for the elementary and middle/high school libraries.

PC school board to meet

Pike County School Corporation Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session on Monday  at 6 p.m.

The regular session will begin at 7 p.m.
