Henry ‘Hank’ Dalle Ave Jr.

RAGSDALE — Henry “Hank” Dalle Ave Jr., 79, passed away Thursday afternoon at 2:46 p.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was born July 7, 1933, in Ragsdale, the son of Henry Sr. and Vivian (Farmer) Dalle Ave. He was a graduate of Aliceville Grade School, Bruceville High School, Vincennes University and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business management. He was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his return from the war, he served in the Peace Corps from 1962 to 1964 and was honored as one of the first thousand persons who joined the Peace Corps. He began his career at Crane Naval Station as an electronic tech and configuration manager. He held membership in the V.F.W. and American Legion. He is survived by his sister Joyce Rodrick, and her husband John of Ragsdale; his aunt, Jennie Dalle Ave of Ragsdale. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews that he took great pride in as his own, John Rodrick Jr., and his wife Lucinda of Oaktown, Jennifer Case of Montpelier, Ohio, Jeffrey Rodrick of Bicknell, Dawn Ann Flury of Atlanta, Ga., Susan Pattee and her husband John of Des Moines, Iowa, Chris Scarff of Bicknell and Ron Scarff and his wife Merit of Des Moines; his great nieces and nephews, John Michael Rodrick, Jayce Rodrick, Ainsley Rodrick, Maddie Pattee, Jordan Pattee, Jesse Pattee, Derick Scarff, Erin Scarff, Devon Scarff, Jordan Pinnick and Cassandra Pinnick. He was preceded by his parents and two sisters, Joan Flury and Marilyn Kay Scarff. Funeral services will be conducted at the Duesterberg Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Moreland officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with military gravesite honors to be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to the services.
