Hatchets drop 2-1 decision

Local Sports Briefs for Friday

EVANSVILLE — Washington dropped a 2-1 girls soccer decision to Evansville Mater Dei Wednesday.

Audra Stallman scored Washington’s (1-2) goal.

Mater Dei was led offensively by two goals from Haley Rheinlander and an assist from Ella Freeman.

Washington now plays in the Hoosier Cup.

Hornback, Smith pace Cardinals

Washington Catholic split a pair of middle school soccer matches against Vincennes Clark Wednesday.

The girls team (2-0-2) won 4-0 behind two goals each from Lexi Hornback and Christina Smith.

The boys (0-4) were defeated, 7-2. Grant Davis and Berkley McCarthy scored once each.
