CANNELBURG — Alvin E. Yoder, 82, died at 11 a.m. Sunday at his residence. Born April 6, 1929, in Elkhart County, he was the son of Ora J. and Mattie (Yoder) Yoder. He was a member of Canaan Fellowship Church in Ebson. On May 13, 1979, he was ordained a minister and he was a lifelong farmer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda (Knepp) Yoder, whom he married April 4, 1953; five daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Willard Knepp of Fairland, Okla., Loretta and Delbert Knepp of Montgomery, Betty and David Knepp of Montgomery, Leona and Gerald Graber of Plainville, and Christina Yoder, at home; six sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Ray and Joyce Yoder of Rockfield, Ky., David E. and Phyllis Yoder of Loogootee, Floyd and Betty Yoder of Owenton, Ky., Lloyd and Karen Yoder of Loogootee, Samuel and Loretta Yoder and Jerry W. and Sarah Yoder, all of Loogootee; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae and J.L. Tubbs of Elkhart and Fannie and Eberly Yoder of White Pigeon, Mich.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Perry O. and Maggie Yoder of Sarasota, Fla., and Jerry O. and Esther Yoder of Cannelburg; one brother-in-law, Lester (Marilyn) Miller of Peru; 44 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Savilla Miller and a stillborn sister; and two brothers, Herman and Wilbur Yoder. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Simon J. Graber Complex. Burial will be in the Canaan Fellowship Church Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Simon J. Graber Complex. Arrangements are being made through Brocksmith-Blake and Wagler Funeral Home in Montgomery.
