K-9 assists in Knox Co. arrest

VINCENNES — A Washington man was arrested in Knox County by an Indiana State Police K-9 unit.

John Q. Wilkerson, 31, was found hiding under a porch on the 800 block of Broadway Street in Vincennes following a pursuit by Trooper Seth Rainey and his K-9 partner, “Teague.”

According to a press release, a trooper was attempting to stop Wilkerson, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Stratus on Ninth and Harrison streets, after receiving information he was wanted in Daviess County for dealing in methamphetamine.

Wilkerson failed to stop and then fled the trooper.  After a brief chase, he then left the car and fled on foot. Rainey and Teague then tracked Wilkerson for five blocks before finding him under the porch. A later search in a nearby alley found Wilkerson’s jacket, which allegedly contained meth, marijuana and paraphernalia.

Wilkerson is being held on charges of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of resisting law enforcement, and the Daviess County warrant for dealing in methamphetamine.

He is being held at the Knox County Security Center without bond. The Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Vincennes Police Department assisted in the arrest.
